    Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX

I recently bought this lens. The first copy that I recieved had a serious front focusing problem, so I had to send it back to the vendor for replacement. After I recieving a second defective lens I decided to send it back for a refund. I am considering what I should do now, whether I should go for the Canon 70-200 f/4 L, the Tamron AF70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF), or get another copy of the same Sigma lens.

That is too bad to hear you had to go through all that trouble. It would have been nice if the first one was perfect. But that is how it often is!

I haven't used any of the lenses you are talking about, but I would recomend the Canon 70-200 f/4 L. I don't recomend it just because it is a Canon lens. I only recomend it because it is the only lens of the three that I have researched. They say it is a very sharp lens, better than the more expensive 70-200 f/2.8 IS L. The only drawback is that it isn't very fast (f/4 at 70mm) and it doesn't have IS. But it is  L-series glass and I can almost garentee that the first one you get will be the one you keep. Let me know how you like it if you get it!

Thanks for your input. I'm seriously considering getting the Canon 70-200 f/4 L.
